Yoga at Hospice with Bonnie Hand
This class is held at and serves the care givers and volunteers of these organizations. Classes are geared for all levels. Beginners will be comfortable as will individuals with more experience.

The class is held on Tuesday's from 11:00 to 12:15 a.m. in the DePaul Room. Please call the instructor, Bonnie Hand, at 816-1287 as the class is sometimes cancelled because of other usage of the room, or other activities by Hospice or New Hope.
Yoga in El Salvador: Connie Tellman
I traveled to El Salvador in February to visit my daughter, Beth. She is doing relief work there after torrential rain caused landslides and flooding. She arranged a yoga class for me to teach consisting of women who have never even heard of the word yoga! As we traveled to Santa Maria, a remote village in the mountains, I was overcome with emotion at what I saw. The destruction was evident as many houses were completely buried in mud. The road that my daughter had walked many times, to deliver food and water, was washed out with the trees lining the road still caked in mud.
I was crying when I arrived to teach a yoga class to group of eager women. After taking a few minutes to compose myself, we began. With no mats, and barely even a towel to use, the women approached the class the way Salvadorans do, with joy and vigor. You could see it in the smiles on all of their faces! I will never forget the elderly lady in the blue dress, who after class said she felt "mucho mejor" (much better)! After sharing the joy of yoga with my new amigas, I felt better too.
